The International Lions Club was formed in 1917
by Melvin Jones for the purpose |

improvement. Inspired by Helen Keller in 1925, |

Lions Clubs
have become known around the world for their efforts to preserve |

restore sight. They have also become involved and active in providing

services as well as in awareness and prevention

community charities. Many people receive eye
examinations and eyeglasses, hearing |

aids,
seeing eye dogs, or even eye surgery
that they could not have otherwise |

|
|
| |
|
|
afforded, through the efforts of our Lions
Clubs. |

|
The Kanawha City Lions Club was formed in 1954
and has grown to be one of the |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
largest Lions clubs in Charleston and in West
Virginia. The club now has over 45 |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
members and it is perhaps best known for the
annual hosting of The Art & Craft |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
Show held every year the weekend Before
Thanksgiving at the Charleston Civic |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
Center. It has been through this fund raising
project that the Kanawha City Lions |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
Club has raised over 1.3 million dollars, over
the past 40 years. ALL of these funds |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
have been funneled back
into the community through our annual donations budget. |
|
|
|
| |
|
|
|
|
|

| |

|
